Spring Time Ski Touring
We never want to stop skiing, so we are always visiting secret, Spring hot-spots (and hot-springs), to make our season last as long as possible. The bulk of people will come to ski whilst it’s still snowing, but why stop skiing if the snow is still out there (and there’s still plenty of it)?
In the quieter parts of the season, we are free to enjoy the beautiful areas and excellent conditions with almost no crowds at all. If you want to venture even further from resort, you may not see another soul out there at all. If you’re into ski touring or split boarding, and want to earn your turns, Spring skiing in Hokkaido will be right up your street.
As road access opens up, and more areas become available, the options for backcountry touring increases. Creeks and crevices all still filled in with snow, and it is still cold enough to maintain quality of the snow. Through the specialised experiences and vast knowledge of our instructors, will find the most awesome routes – and safest Spring skiing routes – in Hokkaido.
Obviously, we all know that main season in Hokkaido gets A LOT of snow. Often you’ll find in March, April, even May, the accommodation and travel options are cheaper than in high season, too.
But when you get snow, you get clouds. For us these are clouds sent over from Siberia. There may be less snowfall in the Spring , but that means more sunshine. More sunshine and clearer days means getting to see those spectacular views from the top of the volcano you just scaled. Particularly for the spectacular views across the lowlands of the island, spring skiing in Hokkaido is truly an unforgettable experience.
Satisfy the intrepid explorer in you.
